A centre drill insert is provided with a plurality of holding arms 22 which project radially outwards and are able to be inserted into slots 18, open at the end face, in the trepanning tool 10. The centre drill insert 20 has a clamp device 26 which is provided with at least two clamp wings 27 extending radially outwards. The clamp wings 27 have bending points 33, 34 at which they are deformed on insertion into the trepanning tool 10, so that they are clamped fast under prestress against an inside wall 32. In order to intensify the clamping action, the clamp wings 27 have sharp edges at their free ends 30 and are made of material resistant to bending. In addition, they extend approximately under the holding arms 22, so that the insertion of the centre drill insert 20 is facilitated. <IMAGE>
