SPACER FOR EXTREMELY LOW TEMPERATURE

PURPOSE: To enhance the magnet stability and mechanical strength of a spacer for extremely low temp. by using a negative expansion org. fiber and an inorg. fiber in a support direction while using an inorg. fiber vertically to the support direction as the reinforcing fibers of fiber reinforced plastic and setting the coefficient of linear expansion in the support direction to a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION: A negative expansion org. fiber 3, such as a polyethylene fiber and an inorg. fiber 4 such as an alumina fiber are used to form a unidirectionally reinforced prepreg or fabric as a spacer. The arranging direction of the inorg. fiber 4 and the negative expansion org. fiber 3 is set to the support direction of the spacer and the coefficient of linear expansion in the support direction is set to 3×10<-6> /k or less.
