PURPOSE: To compactly and inexpensively realize a multidimming function, to apply the multidimming function even to a camera with a built-in flash and to make the speed of the releasing operation of the camera higher. CONSTITUTION: Before preliminary light emission, the charging voltage Vmc of a charge storage means 2 is measured. A time difference tSS between a preliminary light emission start signal and a preliminary light emission stop signal is measured by a time difference measuring means 8. The preliminarily emitted light quantity of a light emitting means 3 is calculated based on the charging voltage Vmc and the time difference tss which are measured. It can be thought such another method that the charging voltage Vmc before the preliminary light emission is measured by a 1st voltage measuring means 7 and the charging voltage Vmc after the preliminary light emission is measured by a 2nd voltage measuring means 10, then the preliminarily emitted light quantity is calculated based on the difference between the charging voltage Vmc before the preliminary light emission and the charging voltage Vmc after the preliminary light emission. |
