PURPOSE: To enable printing on recording material in various thicknesses and to shorten the cooling time by moving a heating element with an elastic member such as a spring and a driving source such as a solenoid and bringing an endless belt into contact with a metallic roller, for cooling the endless belt. CONSTITUTION: The heating element 6 is supported by a displacement driving source 4 such as the solenoid and the elastic member 5 such as the spring. A roller 3 arranged in the downstream side from the heating element 6 is of a belt cooling roller made of metal, etc., and has a heat capacity larger than that of the endless belt 27. A toner image on a photoreceptor drum 22 is transferred to the endless belt 27. The toner of the toner image on the endless belt 27 is heated and pressed by the heating element 6 and a backup roller 14b, to be molten and pressed and cooled by the roller 3 and a backup roller 14a, to fix the toner image on a book or cut paper 21. The heated roller 3 is cooled by a cooling fan 30. |
