PURPOSE: To provide a prepaid card type timer device for enabling free viewing only at the time of UHF band reception in a television receiver. CONSTITUTION: An I/F circuit 9 for detecting a voltage applied to the UHF selection terminal 3c of a tuner part 3 when the television receiver 2 receives a UHF band, and outputting UHF detection signals is provided on the side of the television receiver 2. This prepaid card type timer device 10 subtracts the number of units of a prepaid card during the viewing of the television receiver 2, however, stops the subtraction processing of the number of units of the prepaid card only when the signals of the UHF band are received in the television receiver 2 and the UHF detection signals are detected. Thus, without providing a tuner inside the prepaid card type timer device, the free viewing only at the time of UHF reception is realized with simple constitution.
