<p>The invention relates to a bi-directional telephone link between a plurality of subscriber lines (1, 1*), creating a communications link by amplitude-pulse modulation of the telephone signals, quantizing the signals using a pulse train with a sampling aperture Td and a frame interval between pulses Tk, and passing discrete states of the subscriber lines of the communications link along a single-cable bus. It is proposed that the discrete amplitude states should be retained in the storage device (6, 6*) of the subsrciber lines (1, 1*) of the communications circuit for a time equivalent to the difference between Tk and Td and that the shaped signal of the aggregate state should be passed back to the subscriber lines (1, 1*) immediately before the discrete states arrive within the normal sampling aperture.</p> |
