PURPOSE: To perform display while suppressing fluctuation in the luminance of a white peak by calculating the display rate of a white peak part by detecting the average luminance of a screen for a prescribed period, and setting the luminance of the white peak part corresponding to this display rate. CONSTITUTION: A digital luminance integration circuit 5 integrates a digital luminance signal inputted from an A/D converter 3 and outputs an average luminance signal, this output is counted by a counter 6 for every prescribed period and the display rate of the white peak part is calculated. The control data of an APC(automatic power control) part 11 corresponding to the display rate of the white peak part are previously stored in a memory 8, a control part 7 reads the data corresponding to the display rate of the white peak part inputted from the counter 6 from the memory 8 and outputs a control signal, and the quantity of plasma to be emitted is controlled by controlling a current to flow to a PDP(plasma display panel) display part 12 by controlling the APC part 11 corresponding to this output. Then, the white peak of luminance corresponding to the display rate of the white peak part is displayed. |
