PURPOSE: To secure the reliability in respect to the environmental resistance performance as a liquid crystal projector and to make an alignment adjustment mechanism small-sized, light-weight, and inexpensive by giving a prescribed engagement relation to an adjustment jig and a liquid crystal panel holding member to perform the alignment adjustment by their mutual action with respect to the alignment adjustment method not adopting a liquid crystal projector building-in type but adopting an adjustment jig type of the alignment adjustment mechanism for liquid crystal panel. CONSTITUTION: A pin 40 of a turning mechanism 32 of an adjustment jig 28 is inserted and fitted to a long hole 24 of a liquid crystal panel holding plate 14, and a pair of pins 26 of the liquid crystal panel holding plate 14 are inserted and fitted to recessed grooves 52 of a pair of vertical movement mechanisms 34 of the adjustment jig 28. In this state, the turning mechanism 32 and vertical movement mechanisms 34 are adjusted with screws to adjust the position of the liquid crystal panel holding plate 14 to a setting bracket 20 in a plane orthogonal to the optical axis in the vertical (X), horizontal (Y), and turning (θ) directions.
