A wedge clamp for clamping samples in test devices has a wedge clamp housing (3) and a manipulation element (4) which can be inserted therein, which is displaceable in the direction of the sample's longitudinal axis (6), and in which wedge-shaped clamping jaws (5) for clamping one end of the sample (2) are guided in a slideable manner in a conical recess (17). The recess (17) and the wedge-shaped clamping jaws (5) are shaped in such a way that they taper towards the clamped sample end and that means (26) are arranged at the side of the wedge clamp housing (3) facing the sample (2) for retaining the wedge-shaped clamping jaws (5) in a positively locking manner, which means prevent a displacement of the wedge-shaped clamping jaws (5) in the direction of the sample's longitudinal axis (6), but permit a displacement of the wedge-shaped clamping jaws (5) transversely to the sample's longitudinal axis (6). The wedge clamp housing (3) and the manipulation element (4) have at least one recess (11, 17) for introducing the sample (2) laterally between the wedge-shaped clamping jaws (5). This arrangement provides a universally useable wedge clamp which is compact in terms of overall dimensions, which can be used for all loading situations, ensures rapid clamping of the sample and nevertheless withstands high stresses. <IMAGE> |
