A fuel system for use in supplying fuel to an injection nozzle (28) is disclosed. The system comprises a fuel pump (15) arranged to charge first and second accumulators (10, 11), and control valve means (29, 30) operable to select which of the first and second accumulators (10, 11) is used to supply fuel to the nozzle (28). The system further comprises valve means (24) interposed between the fuel pump (15) and the second accumulator (11), the valve means (24) being operable to permit fuel to flow from the fuel pump (15) to the second accumulator (11) once the fuel pressure within the first accumulator (10) has attained a predetermined value. <IMAGE> |
