PURPOSE: To obtain a piezoelectric composite material having a sound impedance reduced to a level equivalent to a sound impedance of an organism or water and capable of readily carrying out polarization treatment. CONSTITUTION: This piezoelectric composite material comprises porous piezoelectric ceramics, having 0.05-5mm pore diameter and 50-85% porosity and having globular open pores, whose open pore part is replaced with a resin. The composite material is obtained by preparing porous piezoelectric ceramics having 0.05-5mm pore diameter and 50-85% porosity and globular open pores and permeating the open pore part with a liquid resin and curing the liquid resin in this state.
