PURPOSE: To provide a nonaq. electroviscous fluid which uses zeolite substantially free from adsorbed water as the disperse phase and exhibits a very high shear stress induced by voltage application and a low electric current. CONSTITUTION: The electroviscous fluid contains, in a dispersion medium, a disperse phase which comprises fine composite particles each contg. an electonic conductor with an electronic conductivity of 10<-10> Scm<-1> or higher at room temp. and an ionic conductor with an ionic conductivity of 10<-10> Scm<-1> or higher at room temp., the electronic conductor being a carbonized substance formed by heating an org. substance and the ionic conductor being zeolite. |
