Compact laser TV unit

The laser TV appliance has a thin dielectric display (1), electro-optical laser modulator units (3, 4) and a miniaturised solid-state laser (2). The display (1) has a laser active layer (8) for the image. Different and separate laser active layers are in column groups so that, on optical pumping of the layers by the beam of the miniaturised solid-state laser system (2), pumped by a diode laser at a fixed wavelength, the basic colours of red/green/blue are developed which, together give a white colour. Pref., the laser active layer (8) contains a dye chosen from stilbenes, coumarins, rhodamines, phenolemines or oxazines. The host structure for the laser active dyes is a polyester, with distribution particles such as of TiO2.
