Pneumatic drive unit for vehicle

The drive unit uses piston technology to drive a vehicle. It uses stored pressurised air (5,9,10) to produce the drive torque for a vehicle wheel. The design provides for forwards and reverse drive, has compact dimensions and also takes over the mounting of the drive wheel. The crankshaft of the pressurised air engine transfers directly the drive torque for motion in both directions via a freewheeling unit on the wheel hub. This gives a simple gearless drive which may be used in conjunction with other drive systems.
