The card reader includes an ejection mechanism (16) in which a part of a card presence switch (20) is integrated. The ejection mechanism comprises a plunger (18) movably mounted for to-and-fro movement within a housing or frame of the card reader. It includes a contact bridge (20) forming a fixed or rigid component of the plunger.
