<p>An electronic librarian and filing system (120) includes storage unit (122), locator mechanism (124), retrieval mechanism (126), and electronic control unit (128). Storage unit (122) stores CD's on edge in successive side-by-side locations. Locator mechanism (124) disposed in storage unit (122) is movable relative to the successive locations to identify the location of each article. Retrieval mechanism (126) carried with locator mechanism (124) is operable to partially remove a selected one of the CD's from its location so that it can subsequently be fully removed from storage unit (122) by a user. Electronic control unit (128) receives information to identify the CD's stored in storage unit (122), displays such information, processes received information and stored information about the CD's in storage unit (122), and stores information about CD's which can be accessed and displayed for review.</p> |
