PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor and a system for detecting a seat occupant, which are handled easily and low-cost and by which the seat occupant is detected with high reliability. SOLUTION: A sensor device 10 is composed of a mat 12 which contains sensor cable 16. A flexible material is arranged around the sensor cable 16 inside the mat 12. In addition, the mat 12 contains an electronic circuit 18 which is connected to the sensor cable 16. Since the mat 12 is arranged between a sheet and a frame which supports the sheet, not a local compressive force which depends on the bodily shape and the seating position of an occupant but an integrated force which is applied to the whole can be sensed. |
