PURPOSE: To provide an abnormality detecting means for a toner supplying device capable of judging a fault in the detecting device itself as well, without being affected by toner consumption. CONSTITUTION: In the toner supplying device supplying toner from a toner cartridge 6 to a developing unit 2 through a preliminary toner container 4 provided with a toner sensor 3, it is judged whether the quantity of the toner in the preliminary toner container 4 is larger than a first reference quantity judged by the toner sensor 3 or not and when it is judged that the quantity is larger than the first reference quantity, it is judged whether the quantity is smaller than a second reference quantity showing a state smaller than the first reference quantity or not based on the integrated driving time of a preliminary toner supplying means 5. Further, when it is judged that the quantity is smaller than the second reference quantity, the toner supplying device is judged to have a fault. |
