PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for automatically transmitting a frame between the processing unit of a data processing system and a peripheral device. SOLUTION: A data processing system has one or a plurality of processing units each of which is provided with one or a plurality of input-output channel units, one or a plurality of input-output controllers each of which controls one or a plurality of peripheral devices, and an information transmitting medium connected to each channel unit and input-output controller and each controller has an automatic frame transmitting means which controls the transmission of a information frame between any two units connected to the transmitting medium and a means which successively retries a connection request to the same or a different destination unit after an unsuccessful connection trial.
