PURPOSE: To provide a material to be recorded adapted for ink jet which has excellent ink acceptance, no swelling of a surface layer, suitable dot diameter spreading and can satisfy the image quality of a recorded image. CONSTITUTION: A material to be recorded comprises a base material and an ink acceptance layer provided on the material, wherein the layer has a surface layer and an ink absorbing layer, the surface layer and the absorbing layer contain polyvinyl alcohol, and the degree of the saponification of the alcohol contained in the surface layer is lower than that of the alcohol contained in the absorbing layer. |
