The arrangement consists of a drier (10) which is mounted above the path along which the sheets are transported along a guide plate (11) which is part of a suction box and which has a number of openings, through which air is sucked. The guide plate has openings (26) at each end from which air flows through the box. An air flow control system consists of an air flap (16), a spring guide rod (17), a compression spring (24), a stop (18) and an adjusting rod. Alternatively outer suction chambers can be incorporated which are pneumatically controlled by a three-way valve. The suction chambers are connected to the air flow openings at the ends of the guide plate.
