A window pane 1 in a motor vehicle is provided on its edges with a profiled frame 16 made of an elastomer. This profiled frame 16 has a U-shaped segment with an opening facing the fixing rim 2 of the frame of the window opening, the internal cross-section of the fixing rim 2 widening outwards, so as to receive the mounting bead. The flanges 19 and 20 of the U-shaped segment are themselves provided on the inside with retaining projections 23 and 24. The profiled frame 16 and the bead of adhesive 25 do not adhere to each other, the joint being provided solely by mechanical interlocking between the retaining projections 23 and 24 and the bead of adhesive 25 after it cures. Because of the inner section of the profiled frame 16 widening outwards, the window pane 1 may be re-installed - after having been temporarily removed from the window frame - by reusing the hardened bead of cured adhesive 25 remaining on the fixing rim 2, until a complete interlocking beyond the retaining projections 23 and 24 is established.
