摘要 A method for measuring the visual attention of persons or animals to a visible object involves emitting a light beam from the vicinity of the object to an observation zone where persons or animals are present. Light reflected from the retina of the eyes of these persons or animals is selectively detected and converted into an evaluation signal. In so doing, use is made of a light beam whose light is so weak that it is not noticeable, or invisible light, for example infrared. A method can be employed using a focused light beam which scans the observation zone or a light beam which sweeps the entire area. An apparatus for measuring according to the first method comprises a light source with an essentially parallelly focused light beam, a scanning member which scanningly guides the said light beam across the observation zone, and a detector member, positioned in such a way that it receives the light reflected in the observation zone towards the direction of the incident light and therein distinguishes coaxial light from non-coaxial light. To carry out measurements according to the second method, an apparatus is used which comprises a video camera system for receiving light reflected at the observation zone, a pulsed-light system synchronized with the video camera system for pulsed illumination of the observation zone, and means for distinguishing the light image signals recorded by the video camera system from light reflected at the retina of eyes of persons or animals present in the observation zone.
