PURPOSE: To increase lateral rigidity as well as a cornering force by forming an insert layer out of a reinforcement cord laid at the prescribed angle along a peripheral direction, and coating rubber having an organic fiber monofilament with the prescribed ratio of diameter to length for covering the cord. CONSTITUTION: An insert layer 5 is provided in such a state as extending from a side wall section near maximum tire width to the vicinity of a bead core 2 along a radially inner direction. The layer 5 is formed out of a reinforcement cord laid at an angle of 30 to 60 degrees with a peripheral direction and coating rubber for the concealment thereof. In addition. the diameter of the rubber is taken at a value between 0.1 and 1μm, and the rubber contains an organic fiver monofilament having a ratio of diameter to length between 100 and 500. In this case, the orientation of the monofilament is the same as the orientation of the cord. and the modulus of the monofilament is kept larger along a coating rubber orientation than along the radial direction of bead filler rubber. According to this construction, high lateral rigidity and maneuvering stability can be maintained without sacrificing a vibration and riding comfort.
