The valve has a housing (1) with an inlet opening (3) and an outlet opening (4), each communicating with a valve slider reception space (2) with the fluid connection path between the inlet and the outlet controlled by the position of the valve slider (12). The valve slider has a flow space (23) defined between a pair of spaced partition walls (17,18), for connection of the inlet and outlet openings, the peripheral edge of one of the partition walls (17) having a control edge (26) cooperating with the outlet opening, for regulating its flow cross-section in dependence on the valve slider position. An under-cut (32) adjacent the control edge provides a dead water region (33).
