FIELD: seismology. SUBSTANCE: method is intended for seismic-acoustic studies of solid media, including rocks. Package of elastic waves is excited in examined medium with the aid of radiator and vibrations are registered by means of geophone. Then velocity of elastic waves is calculated on the basis of time of their passage from radiator to geophone and distance between them. For simultaneous determination of velocity of longitudinal and lateral waves frequency of vibrations within limits of package is changed linearly. For isolation of first entrance of lateral waves into equipment against background of longitudinal waves equipment is supplemented with key which changes vibration frequency of radiator linearly, filter tuned to frequency of interference of longitudinal and lateral waves, unit for isolation of second entrance and unit for isolation of time of propagation of lateral waves.
