ANTIMICROBIAL SOLID MATERIAL, PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, AND METHOD OF UTILIZING THE SAME

An antibacterial solid having a satisfactory antibacterial activity for long against sewage in any form of circulating, still and running waters or sewagecontacting parts. An example thereof is one containing both of an antibacterial metal itself and ions thereof. It is generally believed that antibacterial metal ions have a potent antibacterial effect when contained in the sewage at least in a specified concentration but the effect cannot last long because they are rapidly released into the sewage and consumed thereby, while antibacterial metals themselves, though not fast-acting, can exhibit a certain bacteriostatic effect continuously for long. Therefore the antibacterial solid containing both of the metal and ions thereof combines a potent initial antibacterial effect and a persistent bacteriostatic effect.
