LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display device which has an excellent visual angle characteristic and is capable of making high-grade display and a process for easily producing such liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION: The surfaces of oriented layers 15, 25 of two sheets of substrates facing each other by holding a liquid crystal layer are provided with plural regions varying in liquid crystal molecule arranging directions. One of the regions facing each other is formed by specifying the liquid crystal molecule arranging direction by a rubbing orientation treatment or an irradiation treatment with an ion beam and the other is formed by specifying the liquid crystal molecule arranging direction to a direction different from the liquid crystal molecule orienting direction by the irradiation treatment with the ion beam. In addition, the arranging directions of the molecules of the liquid crystal layer 2 in the adjacent regions are varied.
