PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emulsion having sensitivity higher than the known highest level by leading the dopant in very thin plate-shaped grains. SOLUTION: This emulsion contains the distributing medium, silver halide grains containing plate-shaped grains, which has a 111} main surface and which contains bromide at 70% by mole in relation to silver and which occupies 90% or more of the whole of grain projection area and which has the mean equivalent diameter at least at 0.7μm and the mean thickness less than 0.07μm, and which has a latent image forming chemical sensitizing part on the surface thereof, and an spectral sensitizing dye adsorbed to the surface of the plate- shaped grains. The chemically sensitized part contains silver halide projection parts of face-centered cubic lattice structure. The silver halide partecles contain a first sensitivity increasing dopant, which can provide a shallow electron trapping part, and a second sensitivity increasing serene group dopant. One of the first and the second sensitivity increasing dopant is limited by the plate-shaped grains, and the other thereof is limited by the silver halide epitaxy.
