<p>PURPOSE: To select optimum paper/magnification and to apply erasure processing of an image other than an original properly by calculating a size of the original based on height data of the original and outer size data of the original. CONSTITUTION: An original upper end and an original 10 on an original platen 1 observed by a range finding mirror 5 are picked up by moving a CCD line sensor 7 in the subscanning direction from one end. The a prescribed number of picture elements is counted based on an image pickup signal from the CCD line sensor 7. Then the size of the original is calculated based on distribution of height data in the right/left direction and outer size data in the horizontal direction of the original 10. Furthermore, the height data or the like are used and how much the original 10 is apart from a reference position to be placed (offset) is calculated. Since the size of the original is calculated by measuring the outer size of the original 10 and the height of the original 10, optimum paper/magnification is selected.</p> |
