PURPOSE: To provide a full color liquid crystal display device in which twisted nematic liquid crystal is used and no deterioration in image quality such as reduction in a contrast, reversal of gradation, and a change in hue according to an angle of visibility is observed. CONSTITUTION: A color liquid crystal display device is provided with a color filter, a twisted nematic liquid crystal cell, two sheets of polarizing plates, and a phase difference plate which has the minimum value other than 0 for an absolute value of retardation in all directions and is inclined by 5-50 deg. from the normal line direction. |
