PURPOSE: To maintain the light emitting intensity of an organic electroluminescent element for a long time by forming a protecting film made of SiZnO so as to prevent the ashing due to the ozone even in the case where the element is used in the atmosphere irradiated with the ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION: A hole injection transporting layer 2 is formed by depositing tetra aryldiamine derivative, and a light emitting layer 3 is formed by depositing the derivative forming the transporting layer 2 and trisaluminium forming an electron injection transporting layer 4. A protecting film 6 made of SiZnO is formed by spattering. Since the element is covered with the protecting film 6, attenuating characteristic thereof is changed by the composition of the protecting film 6, and in the case where zinc at 5 mole % or less or at 80 mole % or more is included, the light emitting intensity is reduced. Light emission is maintained for a long time even under the existence of ozone in the atmosphere irradiated with the ultraviolet rays by including zinc at 5-80 mole %. |
