PURPOSE: To prevent an Al gate line exposed on a peripheral part from breaking of wire by erosion due to dewing and prolong the life of the device, in a liquid crystal display device using a positive stagger type TFT. CONSTITUTION: An area where gate lines 16L outside a sealant 40 forming area are exposed, is coated with a protection film 18 made of polyimide of the same material as that of an orientation film 17. Hereby, even if a moisture atmosphere is formed by dewing, the gate lines 16L are protected by the protection film 18, breaking of the line is prevented, and hence the life of the device is prolonged. In addition, such protection film 18 is formed at the same time as printing of polyimide, and hence a process is not increased. |
