PURPOSE: To obtain the screen which many persons can simultaneously stereoscopically view without requiring spectacles by lighting the backlight device, whose light emission face is curved, partially in accordance with the position of an observer and expanding the light emission part by an optical element. CONSTITUTION: The-picture for right eye and that for left eye taken by cameras 5a and 5b of a photographing device are inputted to a time division synchronizing circuit 4. The observer photographic image signal outputted from the circuit 4 is displayed on a backlight device 3, whose display face is curved, and is expanded by an optical element 2, and a space modulation element 1 is illuminated from back. By this constitution, the stereoscopic picture for right eye and that for left eye displayed on the element 1 are illuminated from back only for the right eye and the left eye of the observer and can be observed, and therefore, the observer can observe the pair of stereoscopic pictures. Consequently, many observers can simultaneously stereoscopically view the picture without spectacles having the right/left distribution function even if they move. |
