Continuous process for printing cellulose fabric

A wet process, with no heating, for the continuous transfer-pattern printing of a cellulose fabric web (1) or its blends uses a corona-treated plastic film (6) preprinted with a pattern. The film is passed, together with the web (eg of cotton or rayon) through pressure rolls (7A - 7C) to transfer an image to the web. The film is rewound (at 8) and the web is dried (at 9). The web is pre-treated in an alkali solution (at 3) and in a moisture control unit (5). The web carries a dye admixed with a thickening agent containing water-soluble and alcohol-soluble hydroxypropyl cellulose or polyvinyl pyrrolidone as ink.
