PURPOSE: To prevent the mispositioning of a guide wire inserted into the celom and to easily and rapidly extend the guide wire so as to enable exchange of a catheter by composing a guide wire set of the guide wire and a tubular extension body joinable or separable to or from its proximity end. CONSTITUTION: This guide wire set is composed of the guide wire 1 and the tubular extension body 4 joinable or separable to or from the proximity end of the guide wire 1. The guide wire set is used by a method of inserting a catheter 7 so as to put it on the guide wire 1 inserted into the celom 10 through the epidermis 9 of the body. The removal of the catheter 7 is executed by connecting the tubular extension body 4 to the proximity end existing in the out-of-celom part of the guide wire 1 inserted into the celom 10 and removing the catheter 7. The outside diameters of the guide wire 1 and the tubular extension body 4 are substantially the same and there are no hindrances, such as bulging, in the juncture thereof and, therefore, the smooth removal of the catheter 7 is possible. |
