<p>A driver's side airbag (14) has an internal tether (22) to prevent displacement forwardly of, or upwardly from, the steering wheel (10). The tether (22) has a first end secured substantially centrally of the bottom of the bag (14) and a second end secured in a peripheral seam (20) joining the bottom and top halves (16, 18) of the bag (14) and at a location forward of the steering wheel. The tether (22) may have plural second ends or a fan shape such that it is secured to the peripheral seam (20) at spaced locations subtending substantially 90° at the centre of the airbag (14).</p> |
