Trim strip for cars

The decorative plastic strip (1) has locating and retaining elements (3), i.e. pegs. It is esp. for cars, and is moulding in a novel split injection tool (11), eliminating surface defects. The cavity is closed, filled with plastic, and subjected to the dwell pressure. During cooling, one or more of the pegs are partially released, to compensate for thermal contraction along the strip. Finally, the strip is fully released and extracted. Also claimed is the appts. to make the strip described. It includes the upper- (14) and lower mould dies (13) defining the cavity (12). The upper die has a slide (18) to first mould the pegs, and then partially retract. A bar (21) actuates the slides; of which there may be many on the one bar.
