摘要 Catalyst (I) comprises metal oxide and gold. Pref. (i) the hydrogenation comprises reacting a carbon oxide- and hydrogen-contg. gaseous compsn. in the presence of (I) at 150 deg.C or above; and (ii) support catalyst comprises (I) and a support for deposition of the catalyst. Pref. (I) contains 0.1-30 wt.% gold. The metal in the metal oxide is of zinc, iron, copper, lanthanum, titanium, cobalt, zirconium, magnesium, beryllium, nickel, chromium, scandium, indium, tin, manganese, vanadium, cerium, aluminium and silicon, pref. zinc, iron, titanium, zirconium, lanthanum and cerium. The gold is used in small particles with max. 0.1 micron dia. and is immobilised on the metal oxide. The support is built up from aluminium oxide, silicon dioxide, zeolite and titanium dioxide. The reaction is at 5 x 10 power 5 Pa or above. The carbon oxide is CO and the volumetric ratio of H2/CO is at least 2. The carbon oxide is pref. CO2 and the volumetric ratio of H2/CO is at least 3.
