Water purification process involves adding a carbon source to the water for denitrification and then passing the water through a granular filter material bed. A small amount of methanol is added as the carbon source so that some is left in the water after is passes through the filter bed to reduce or prevent the growth of organisms in the area downstream of the filter and on the walls and pipes in this area. - Apparatus for carrying out the above process is also claimed. |
