In decolouration of fabric for jeans, either as fabric or as a made-up article, at room temp.and in an aq. medium, in presence of a water-sol. permanganate salt, treatment is at pH 3.5-6.5 or 7.5-9, in presence of an anionic, cationic or amphoteric surfactant, opt.in admixture with nonionic surfactant(s), followed by washing with water ≥ once, and then treatment with an aq. soln. of a reducing agent. Pref. KMnO4 is used, in amt. of not above 0.1%, w.r.t. the fabric. The reducing agent is H2O2, oxalic acid, H2SO3 and its alkali salts, or dithionic acid and its alkali salts. The cationic surfactants are quat. ammonium cpds. contg. 12-18 alkyl, gps., and the anionic surfactants are Na 13-17C paraffin sulphonates. The amt. of anionic, cationic or amphoteric surfactant(s) is not above 0.5%, w.r.t. the fabric. The mfr. of garments or articles from the fabric is claimed. |
