PURPOSE: To improve overall transfer performance. CONSTITUTION: This image forming device is provided with an entrance auxiliary electrode 44 composed of a supporting part 46 placed in the rear side position of an intermediate transfer body 28 facing an entrance discharge circle A from a transfer roller 32 to a transferred material 43 and made of a conductive material having <=10cm<6>Ω. volume resistivity and a surface layer 45 as a middle resistance member which is supported by the supporting part 46 and has 10<8> -10<12>Ω.cm volume resistivity. The entrance auxiliary electrode 44 is separated from the intermediate transfer body 28 with a distance capable of a gap discharge and the supporting part 46 can be held at a constant potential.
