The carbon-carbon composite material is prepared by (a) inserting and fixing the stabilized fiber molded body, such as one of rayon, polyacrylonitrile and pitch between graphite supported plate and ceramic supported plate such as one of alumina, zirconia, silicon carbide and silicon nitride, (b) reacting the support plate attached to the stabilized fiber molded body to hydrocarbon gas flowed with 2-100 vol% concentration in reaction tube of an inert atmosphere at 900-1,400 deg.C for 1-5 hrs. by the first chemical vapor deposition, then the elevating temp. rate is 5-200 deg.C/min, (c) removing ceramic supported plate from the cooled support plate, (d) reacting the graphite supported plate attached to the stabilized fiber molded body to hydrocarbon gas in the tube under the same reaction conditions. by the second chemical vapor deposition, and cooling it.
