PURPOSE: To obtain a glycolipid ceramide deacylase capable of well acting on an enzyme having a wider substrate specificity than that of a conventionally known glycolipid ceramide deacylase, especially even on a neutral glycolipid. CONSTITUTION: This glycolipid ceramide deacylase has properties of actions on an intramolecular ceramide in a sphingoglycolipid to hydrolyze the ceramide into a sphingosine base and a fatty acid and produce a lysoglycolipid and the fatty acid, the substrate specificity for acting on a neutral glycolipid and an acidic glycolipid, 5-7 optimum pH, about 40 deg.C optimum temperature, the pH stability of being stable at a pH within the range of 4-9 by treatment at 5 deg.C for 16hr and the thermostability of being stable at 60 deg.C for 30min. A sphingolipid is treated with the resultant enzyme to afford a lysosphingolipid. |
