PURPOSE: To utilize the skin effect occurring when high-frequency high electric current is supplied at high voltage and to sinter an Al-containing difficultly sinterable raw material in a short time. CONSTITUTION: An AC electric current of >=500 V maximum voltage, >=1 kA/cm<2> maximum electric current, and >=1 kHz frequency is supplied to a powder of heat resistant material containing 5 to 95 atomic % Al so that total electrification time becomes 50×10<-6> to 500×10<-3> sec. As the elements other than Al, contained in the sintering raw material, Nb, Ti, Ni, or the like, can be cited. Because the Joule heat effective in the mutual bonding of powder particles is generated solely at the surface of the particles, the residual stress of the resultant sintered body due to thermal hysteresis can be reduced and the sintered body of high strength and high density can be manufactured in high efficiency.
