<p>PURPOSE: To smoothly control the vehicle speed by providing at least a main accelerating means such as a throttle actuator and a main decelerating means such as a brake actuator on a vehicle speed control device to control the vehicle speed. CONSTITUTION: A vehicle speed control device consists of a throttle opening operating unit 22 to operate the throttle opening according to the signal of a vehicle speed detecting device 21, a brake stepping pressure operating device 23, a throttle actuator 25 to be controlled, and a switching judging device 24 of the brake actuator 26. This switching judging device 24 achieves the switching to the control of the brake actuator when the control amount reaches the first prescribed value in controlling the throttle actuator 25 whereas it achieves the switching to the control of the throttle actuator 25 when the control amount reaches the second prescribed value during this controlling. Thus, the smooth control of the vehicle speed can be realized similarly to the operation of an accelerator and a brake by an experienced driver.</p> |
