The present invention relates to a container for compressed gas, designed for firing a projectile. This measure results in such a simple construction that the fabrication costs are minimal, specifically so minimal that the costs per firing of the projectile are considerably lower than those for the prior art container. Moreover, dispensing with a container suitable for a large number of firings keeps the mass of the firing apparatus low. The invention further relates to a firing apparatus suitable for firing a projectile by means of a container according to one of the preceding claims, comprising a chamber suitable for holding a carrier according to any one of claims 16-18, a pointed firing pin (fuse pin, striker, striking pin) which can move as far into the chamber as the position of the container to be fitted, and a duct connecting the locations of the container and the projectile in the chamber.
