The magazine (7) has holders (11) for the disc shaped machine tools (2). The holders are open from least one direction. The magazine and the machine tool spindle (18) can move w.r.t. one another in the direction of insertion of the tool and in a cross direction (30) at right angles to it. The tool is pulled out of the holder and held on to the machine tool spindle by magnetic attraction. Movement of the magazine and spindle w.r.t. one another in the cross direction removes the tool attached to the spindle away from the holder.
