The drink preparation machine consists of a stand for the drink receptacle and a hand filter unit serving to contain the drink material and operator for the brewing process. The drink material (2), ground coffee or the like, is contained within a filter body (3), consisting of a perforated wall (9), allowing circulation of the water (8) and a perforated cover (13), attached to a shaft (17). A motor and drive unit (23) is attached to housing (29) containing switch (42), timer and indicator elements, the assembly being detachably from the base unit (39, 45, 48).
