PURPOSE: To obtain an artificial vertebral body made of a synthetic resin which is capable of dealing with all vertebral body treatments with a small number of pieces, does not crack during handling and use, is fixable without using adhesives and is capable of making the motion similar to the conventional vertebral motion. CONSTITUTION: This artificial vertebral body consists of an internal insert material 3 having a blind outside cylindrical body 2, a main body part 10 insertable in this outside cylindrical body 2 and a flange part 11 of nearly the same diameter as the diameter of the outside cylindrical body 2 and doughnut-shaped spacers 4 for spacing adjustment which are inserted into spacings 15 between the opening side end face of the outside cylindrical body 2 and the flange surface of the internal insert material and have notches 12 at one part thereof. The outside base of the outside cylindrical body 2 and the outside surface of the flange part 11 of the internal insert material 3 are provided with projecting parts 8 for mounting the artificial vertebral body on the defectless vertebral body 14. |
